Back In The Biz

Ahhhh

Filed under: general — backinthebiz @ 12:31 am

Figured out some of my website woes:  turns out, its a php problem.  Bad news, cuz I can’t figure out how to fix it. (I will, eventually figure it out, just very rusty right now). Good news, I know my site is okay.

More good news–got the domain name backinthebiz.com  and got my own wordpress blog going on it.  So, I’ll keep this one up for awhile, just so that people (if there are people out there reading) can find out where the rest of the story will be told.

Day…what day is it?

Filed under: general — backinthebiz @ 6:34 pm

Oh yeah. Day 3.  My weightloss site is still not live yet. That makes me a little nervous.  But then I remember it’s the weekend, and the site will go live on Monday.  (I hope!).

Anyway, looking over some of the forums at MoreNiche (Click on my first blogroll link to find out about them), found some VERY good advice for using WordPress:  Don’t use ADs of any kind.

Now of course, I should have known that….and I would have known that, except in my zeal,   I didn’t think to find out if the free version of WP would ban the use of ads.  But, if you look in their FAQs, it’s right there in black and white.  So that’s my tip to you, today: Always look at the FAQs and TOS of any free blogging company you choose to use.

Now, you might want to stamp your feet and say “No Fair!” and “What about the First Amendment?!  They’re infringing on my free speech!!!”  But it’s completely fair. They’re being very generous letting us use up their bandwidth at no cost to us, and they can tell us what we can put on our blogs and what we can’t.

If you want to put ads and stuff on a blog, you’re gonna have to buy a domain name, find a hosting company that supports your chosen blog application (like wordpres or typepad) and host your blog yourself.   Luckily, domain names are cheap and so is hosting.  So go get to it!

As for me, I gotta go purchase another domain name so I can blog about getting back in the biz and put as many ads as I want up on it!  :P

Holy smokes! I forgot how much work this could be!

Well, my domain name is purchased, the nameservers set and I’m waiting for them to propogate before any content can show up on the www. While I’m waiting for this, I started a blog on the free wordpress version, and I decided to read up and re-learn all the ins and outs of marketing.

And I had forgotten how much there is to learn and digest before you can even think of making money! Creating content is of the utmost importance. Some may just think:

“I’ll just go to a free article page, cut and paste an article and voila! I’ve got content that the search engines will love!”

And sure, you might, but it will be…duplicate content, and search engines don’t love that. And there I was, already to throw up some weight loss articles on my web page until I read the affliate guides at MN. Once I read those, it all came rushing back–all the do’s and don’ts, the tips and hints, and stellar advice of those with much more experience.

So, my true first step will be to find some good content articles (because I’m only a fair writer, and I need to be much better read on the subject I’m selling before I can truly write my own articles), and then re-write them, re-format them and add pictures or even youtube vids to make the articles work for me and me alone.

If you want to find some great hints, tips and more, go ahead and check out my little fledgling blogroll, and click on any of those links.

Happy Birthday!

I’m jumping back into online marketing after a looooong break. And it feels like a great time to do it. MoreNiche (Click on this blog to find out more about them) is busting out some of the best new products I have ever seen! I am raring and ready to go, but I know I need to start slow. You simply cannot expect to be successful by biting off more than you can chew.

So, I’m choosing one of their new products to push exclusively until I know I’ve got my online money making chops back. I’ve purchased a pretty good (imo) domain name to use in this push, I’ll creating multiple blogs, both on my domain and here on blogspot, to push the product and….I’m pretty darn excited!

I hope you will join me and enjoy the ride as much as I hope to enjoy it!

Tomorrow, I start designing my site and finding and creating content–lovely key word rich content….ooohh!
